Mgahinga Gorilla National Park sits high in the clouds, at an altitude of between 2,227m and 4,127m. As its name suggests, it was created to protect the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit its dense forests, and it is also an important habitat for the endangered golden monkey.
Day 1 : Entebbe to Mgahinga National Park
After breakfast at 7 am, the driver will pick you up from the hotel/guesthouse and leave for the southwest of Uganda. The first part takes us through central Uganda. You will have lunch in Igongo cultural center in Mbarara, and from here we will continue the journey until we arrive at the booked hotel in Kisoro - Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
This is the day of gorilla tracking. At 7.45 am, you will be at the office of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a pre-briefing and at 8.30 am, you will start the trek. After finding the gorillas, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour with them. All visitors are expected back at the starting point by 7 pm. Being physically fit is recommended.
Day 3: Mgahinga to Entebbe
After an early breakfast, you will travel back to Kampala/Entebbe airport. On the way back to the city, you will have lunch in Mbarara town. After you've passed Masaka, there will be an opportunity to stop at the equator for photos, souvenir shopping and to also enjoy a tea or coffee.
